650k patients got reimbursed medicines via ePrescription this year

About 650,000 people received compensated medicines and medical devices through the "ePrescription" automated information system in the first eight months of this year.
The National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) transferred over 826 million lei to contracted pharmacies for compensated medications dispensed from January to August, which is approximately 82 million lei more than during the same period last year.
Of this amount, around 775 million lei were allocated for compensated medicines. The majority of these funds—over 378 million lei—were allocated towards the treatment of diseases affecting the circulatory system, benefiting approximately 446,000 patients.
Following this, nearly 252 million lei were spent on medications for endocrine, nutritional, and metabolic diseases, which supported more than 250,000 beneficiaries.
According to CNAM, the average cost of compensated medications per beneficiary was 1,280 lei. The highest treatment costs for compensated medications were associated with skin and subcutaneous tissue diseases, averaging over 2,150 lei per patient.
Additionally, approximately 100,000 people received compensated medical devices, with a total funding of over 51 million lei for these products.
During the January-August period, more than two million electronic prescriptions were processed through 1,681 pharmacies.
Any doctor, including those in emergency units and those providing community care and palliative care services at home, can prescribe electronic prescriptions. At the pharmacy, citizens can collect their reimbursed medications or medical devices by simply presenting their identity card.
