October begins with frost: meteorologists issue warning
The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued a yellow frost warning for October 2–3.
According to forecasts, on Thursday and Friday, ground-level temperatures will drop to -1…-3°C, with isolated air temperatures reaching -1 to -2°C.
Meteorologists warn that frost will be most pronounced during nighttime and early morning hours when temperatures are at their lowest. The warning applies to the entire territory of Moldova.
Authorities advise the public to take precautionary measures, especially farmers and those with crops sensitive to low temperatures. Protecting plants—either by covering them or by harvesting vulnerable crops in advance—is essential to prevent losses.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry notes that early October frosts could damage fruits and vegetables that have not yet been harvested.
