Over 2,200 families received energy-efficient appliances via EcoVoucher program

More than 2,200 families in the Republic of Moldova are starting the cold season with new energy-efficient refrigerators and washing machines, thanks to the government's EcoVoucher program. During the fifth session of this year, which took place from September 12 to 29, a total of 2,217 vouchers were redeemed. Of these, 1,938 vouchers were awarded to families with children, while 279 were issued to families consisting of seniors aged 63 and older.

"The results of the session show, once again, that EcoVoucher responds to a real need of the population. Beneficiaries immediately reduce energy consumption and free up significant financial resources for other family expenses", said Ion Muntean, director of the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED).

Each voucher has a value of 6,000 lei and covers up to 70% of the cost of a new household appliance. In this round, beneficiaries purchased 1,066 refrigerators and 1,151 washing machines with high energy efficiency classes, which will bring them savings on their electricity bill "at least twice" compared to old appliances, a CNED press release states.

The EcoVoucher program, launched by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with the support of the European Union, has assisted 37,268 families to date. In 2025 alone, over 25,000 vouchers financed by Norway were redeemed, confirming the scale and efficiency of the initiative.

The implementation of the current edition is carried out by the National Center for Sustainable Energy, within the framework of the "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies for Moldova" (E4M) project, financed by the Government of Germany and co-financed by the European Union, Norway and Denmark.
