Ungheni crash: driver dead, two passengers injured
A tragic road accident last night in Ungheni resulted in one death and two injuries. According to the police, a car driven by a 37-year-old man collided head-on with a truck carrying over 20 tons of freight. The crash occurred after the car skidded due to excessive speed and poor weather conditions.
During the initial investigation, law enforcement officers found that the 40-year-old truck driver intended to turn left into a gas station, a maneuver permitted by road signs. While he was waiting for traffic to clear in both directions, the truck was involved in a head-on collision with a car. Unfortunately, the driver of the car died at the scene.
The two passengers in the car, aged 31 and 37, were rushed to the hospital with multiple injuries. The truck driver underwent alcohol testing, which yielded a negative result.
In response to the incident, the police opened a criminal investigation.
