Weather conditions slightly disrupted the 9th edition of the Olympic Eco Fest. Due to rain, sports competitions between high schools and mixed teams were postponed to next Saturday and will be held at one of the capital’s educational institutions. Even so, the event in Chişinău’s Valea Morilor Park began with tree planting by athletes and members of national federations.

“First of all, I wasn’t afraid of the rain. It’s not a big problem. I came with my classmates to plant trees together and make Chișinău more beautiful — to help our parks look better and to help nature recover,” said one of the participants.

“I’m glad that the National Olympic and Sports Committee has such traditions. And when it rains, that’s when true friends are revealed,” said table tennis coach Elena Mocrousov.

“We hope these beautiful initiatives will continue in the future. Many who came left quickly because they got wet. Usually, these events attract a lot of participants, but this year, due to the rain, attendance was lower,” stated Nicolae Juravschi, President of the National Olympic and Sports Committee.

For the first time, the National Olympic and Sports Committee organized the Parade of Water Sports, featuring Dragon Boat, Canoe, and Yachting demonstrations. Among the participants was Andrea Paraschiv, an 18-year-old canoeist with five years of experience.

“The competition was very interesting — a great experience. We look forward to competing again. No matter the season, we must be in the boat,” said canoeist Andrea Paraschiv.

The Olympic Family reaffirmed its commitment to environmental protection, sending a strong message of ecological responsibility to the community. Olympic Eco Fest promotes environmental education, outdoor activity, and the discovery of new sports, encouraging children and young people to move away from a sedentary lifestyle.
