Rainy weather didn’t stop National Wine Day festivity

More than 100 wineries from across the country transformed the center of the capital into a vibrant celebration of Moldovan tradition, taste, and identity today. Many citizens and tourists gathered to celebrate National Wine Day. Despite the unpredictable weather, the atmosphere remained festive, with wine being the undisputed star of the event.

Dozens of tourists from Romania, Ukraine, Israel and the UK enjoyed the taste of Moldovan wine and the local hospitality.
“We came from Kiev to the Wine Day. We were at this event six years ago, we like your wines”.
“A delicious wine! You don’t find such a variety in the UK”.
“We also see small wineries that are growing, which are few years old but have excellent potential”.
“Dry red wine from 2018 - that’s all I know, otherwise it’s good”.
“-We studied here. I have many friends with whom I met yesterday, and today we celebrate Wine Day. We left Moldova, but Moldova from us - never. - How long have you not been here? - 30 years”.

Winemakers are putting their finest wines up for sale.
"This year, we have wines aged in oak barrels, red wines, and special collection wines. Our collection features a substantial selection of wines from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. We also have tulburel ( young wine)", says Gheorghe Frangu, the winery manager.
"We exclusively produce dry wines, both red and white, primarily from local varieties," adds Alexandru Rotaru, the manager of another winery.

The event is organized by the National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV).
“Meeting in the middle of autumn has become a cherished tradition in the Great National Assembly Square, where we celebrate our wine heritage and the achievements of Moldovan wine,” said Ştefan Iamandi, the director of ONVV.
“Moldovan wine is not only valuable for its quality, but also for the people who produce it. Whether in Brussels, London, New York, or Tokyo, our wine conveys a clear message: Moldova knows how to create excellence,” emphasized Ludmila Catlabuga, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry.

National Wine Day has reached its 24th edition. This year, the event is held under the slogan "Moldovan Wine. Amazingly Good". The celebration will continue on Sunday, October 5.
