Over 170 new medicines approved in Moldova since year’s start

Moldovan citizens have access to various types of medicines at local pharmacies. In the current year, the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (AMDM) authorized a total of 271 medicines, 173 of which are being introduced for the first time.
Among the latest drugs authorized for the first time on the Moldovan market are Parkonets - tablets used to treat Parkinson's disease; Entecoliv - an antiviral drug used to treat long-term hepatitis B virus infection in adults; Simponi - injectable solution in a pre-filled pen used to treat polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis in children aged 2 years and older; Eydenzelt - a drug injected into the eye by a doctor in adults to treat several eye conditions; Apixaban - film-coated tablets used by adults to prevent blood clots in the heart, etc.
According to a report by AMDM, the value of the pharmaceutical market in the first two quarters of this year was 136.55 million euros, with 93% of the drugs originating from abroad.
Last year, the pharmaceutical market's value exceeded 272.36 million euros, and we imported 91.6% of our medicines. The countries from which we purchased the most medicines in 2025 were Germany (13%), Romania (10%), Hungary and Turkey (each 8%), as well as Slovenia (7%).
We recall that, at the beginning of this year, the authorities approved a new Law on Medicines, which adjusts the regulatory framework to the European acquis and aims to reduce the shortage of essential medicines, attract foreign manufacturers to the national market, increase the competitiveness of the pharmaceutical market and facilitate participation in international clinical trials.
“These factors will offer patients various options for quality medicines and advantageous prices”, said the representatives of the Ministry of Health.
