Two cruise missiles launched from a submarine by North Korea
North Korea has launched two cruise missiles from a submarine tonight, the North Korean agency reported. The missiles were fired from off Sinpo on North Korea's east coast, hours before joint military exercises between Seoul and Washington, reports France-Presse.
The South Korean military confirmed it had detected a new missile launch. On Thursday, North Korea launched a short-range ballistic missile into the Yellow Sea, and on Friday leader Kim Jong-un ordered his military to step up military manoeuvres for what he called a real war during a missile firing exercise attended by his daughter.
Pyongyang recently accused the United States of deliberately stoking tensions, and Kim Yo-jong, Kim Jong-un's sister, the country's second most powerful person, warned that if the United States intercepted one of Pyongyang's missile tests it would be seen as a declaration of war.
