Moldova unveils €500k grant fund for SMEs in energy drive

Fifty-nine companies in Moldova received non-reimbursable grants totalling 8.9 million lei ($480,000) in September, disbursed via the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA).
ODA stated that of the total, 20 businesses benefited from European Union funds, and 39 were allocated from the state budget.
Also last month, 88 companies received grants totalling 29 million lei. This support is expected to stimulate approximately 54 million lei ($2.9 million) in national economic investments.
The Moldovan Government provided 18.4 million lei for 76 companies. The remaining 12 companies received 10.6 million lei through the Programme for Increasing the Competitiveness of Local Producers and Integration into Value Chains, financed by the Government and the World Bank Group, through ODA and the World Bank Competitiveness Enhancement Project Implementation Unit.
Through the Credit Guarantee Fund, 38 entrepreneurs benefited from guarantees of 37.51 million lei, facilitating 82.61 million lei ($4.5 million) in financing for business expansion.
Under Government Programme 373, over 60 entrepreneurs secured loans of 179 million lei for investment projects totalling 338 million lei, with the state partially covering the interest in September through 8.7 million lei ($470,000) in compensation payments.
Also in September, the "FACEM Sustainable Investments BGK" programme approved 3.4 million lei in financing for four entrepreneurs, for investment projects of 4.3 million lei, with an emphasis on energy efficiency. Since its launch, this product has supported 30 entrepreneurs with total financing of 57.6 million lei, for projects of 107.1 million lei.
More than 97.89 million lei ($5.3 million) was also granted to cover entrepreneurs' electricity costs incurred between January and September 2025. Approximately 10.41 million lei more is due to be transferred to enterprise accounts shortly.
This support is part of the Compensation Programme launched by the Government of the Republic of Moldova at the beginning of 2025, with financial support from the European Union. The programme remains active throughout 2025, and entrepreneurs can submit their applications online either through the EVO application or the MCabinet platform.
It is worth noting that the Electricity Compensation Programme is a measure adopted by the Moldovan Government to support entrepreneurs affected by rising electricity costs, by compensating 50% of the tariff increase.
Entrepreneurs active in agriculture, forestry, and fishing, as well as in the manufacturing industry, are eligible for compensation. The compensation is transferred directly to the enterprise's bank account, based on the data provided in the application.
