Strategic investments in infrastructure: Republic of Moldova will participate in the "Global Gateway 2025" Forum in Brussels

The Republic of Moldova will participate in the second edition of the International Forum "Global Gateway 2025", scheduled to take place on October 9-10 in Brussels, under the auspices of the European Commission. Our country will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
The event brings together government leaders, representatives of international financial institutions and the business community to discuss strategic partnerships and infrastructure investments, in a geopolitical context marked by rapid changes and economic challenges.
Minister Vladimir Bolea will participate in the session dedicated to regional connectivity, focused on capitalizing on the economic potential through investments in transport, energy and digital infrastructure, connecting the European Union, Turkey, the Eastern Partnership countries, Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
The Global Gateway Forum is the European Union's premier platform for promoting sustainable, digital, and green investments, in partnership with countries worldwide.
According to the Delegation of the European Union in Chisinau, under the Global Gateway initiative in 2021, the European Union, together with international financial institutions, has mobilized 1.7 billion euros for projects in the Republic of Moldova.
Investments already underway include:
• Increasing energy efficiency in health and education institutions across the country, including upgrading heating systems and installing photovoltaic panels.
• Rehabilitating the Vălcineț–Ungheni–Chișinău–Căinari railway corridor to boost trade and economic development, as part of the EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes initiative.
• Improving building insulation, installing more efficient lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation systems, integrating renewable energy sources and introducing efficient energy management practices.
• Developing road infrastructure to improve internal connections and bring Moldova closer to the EU.
• Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises: between 2021 and 2023, over 8,000 Moldovan SMEs benefited from better access to financing, and nearly 7,000 received business advisory services.
Since its launch in 2021, the Global Gateway has brought together over 260 flagship projects, mobilizing more than €180 billion globally.
By 2027, the initiative is expected to mobilize over €300 billion.
