Over 100 apartment blocks connected to heating despite consumer debts

Termoelectrica started connecting residential consumers to the centralized heat distribution network. To date, more than 100 apartment blocks have been connected, out of a total of over 2,800 registered in Chisinau. The supplier announced that these connections will proceed despite the debts that consumers accumulated during the last heating season. Currently, the number of unpaid bills from the previous year exceeds 25,000.

As of October 10, a total of 131 kindergartens were connected to the centralized heat source. Additionally, 38 schools and high schools, 18 medical institutions, and over 80 businesses are receiving heating.

"For several years, we have observed that large-scale connections typically occur around October 1-15, and this year is no different. However, the current figures are still relatively modest, indicating that not everyone feels the need to activate their heating. It is the right of each consumer to manage their own consumption. The ideal room temperature is considered to be around 19 degrees," stated Iurie Razlovan, the director of the "Termoelectrica" Enterprise.

To improve efficiency and operate at maximum capacity, the enterprise has fully repaired Energy Block No. 1, which is essential for distributing the heating agent.

"We are on schedule, and within 15 days, we will have the energy block operational. The old system has been in use for approximately 20 years and needs to be replaced. This year, we are updating Energy Block No. 1, and next year, we will replace the remaining blocks," said Alexandru Buruiană, the chief engineer at Termoelectrica.

Representatives from Termoelectrica emphasize that, to connect to the heating system, the administrator of the apartment block must submit an application to the company along with the technical documentation for the engineering installations.

Household consumers in Chisinau who benefit from centralized heating pay a tariff of 2,510 lei for one gigacalorie of heat, excluding VAT.
