A 50-year-old bridge in southern Moldova will undergo urgent repairs

The road bridge over the Lunguta River, located near Corten village in the Taraclia district, is set to undergo significant repairs after more than fifty years of service. Constructed in 1970, this reinforced concrete bridge measures 34.13 meters in length and 9.94 meters in width. Currently, it is in unsatisfactory condition, as reported by the National Roads Administration (AND).
The identified defects in the bridge's track, sidewalks, parapets, joints, and load-bearing structure require urgent attention. Once the necessary repairs are completed, the bridge will meet both current and future traffic demands while significantly enhancing road safety.
The planned duration for the repair work is from November 17, 2025, to March 1, 2027.
The National Roads Administration has announced the initiation of the public procurement procedure for this project, which has a total estimated value of 11.84 million lei.
The deadline for submitting offers or requests to participate is October 30, 2025.
The bridge is situated on the national public road R37 Ceadir-Lunga – Taraclia – R32, at km 6.75. This route currently experiences an average annual traffic intensity of about 3,000 vehicles per day, with projections indicating an increase to 5,500 vehicles per day over the next 20 years.
