Three men detained for earning 25 million lei from illegal online casinos

Three men, two of whom are foreign citizens, were detained for illegally organizing online gambling in Chisinau. Law enforcement officers announced the dismantling of a network of operational internet casinos that generated illegal revenues of 25,000,000 lei.
The searches were carried out with the support of the masked men from "Fulger". The police announce that evidence supporting the accusations was seized, including contracts, accounting documents and computers. Several luxury cars were also seized, allegedly purchased with money obtained from illegal activity.
A total of eight searches were carried out, and the three suspects are between 37 and 43 years old. The police announce that all three are "members of an organized criminal group", who camouflaged their activity "under the cover of providing IT services".
"The suspects allegedly created and managed an operational center for coordinating an online casino network, disguised under the cover of providing IT services", reads the police statement.
Law enforcement officers also suspect the three detainees of having used fraudulently obtained identity data to open accounts and electronic wallets, through which they carried out unauthorized financial transactions.
Investigations into the case continue.
According to a law enacted in 2016, the organization and conduct of gambling activities within the Republic of Moldova, excluding the operation of physical casinos, is a state monopoly managed by the National Lottery of Moldova.
