Bucharest blast: Three killed, pregnant woman among dead

Following Friday's explosion in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, 66 people were given hotel accommodation, and more than 280 received psychological counselling.
Three families received assistance to replace lost documents, according to Bucharest's acting mayor, Stelian Bujduveanu, who was quoted by Digi24. Of the 15 people injured, three remain in the Floreasca Emergency Hospital, where two have undergone surgery.
“We made it through the first night after the blast. We are on the ground with the residents, offering direct support to those affected by the explosion in Rahova. It was a difficult night, but we have left no one behind. The support hotline is active 24/7 for any need for help, information, or accommodation. Please call for immediate assistance or guidance to the command center,” Mr Bujduveanu wrote on Facebook on Saturday.
Specialists continue to assess the damaged homes to identify needs and provide quick, personalised solutions. According to Mr Bujduveanu, all evacuated individuals are receiving accommodation, counselling, medical support, and logistical assistance to replace essential documents and belongings.
The acting mayor concluded that the teams would remain on-site for as long as necessary, adding: “We will maintain our presence. People must know that they are not alone and that support will continue until every family regains their safety and stability.”
Three people injured in the explosion were admitted to the Floreasca Emergency Hospital, and two patients required surgery. One injured person, who has extensive burns and multiple traumas, and is in critical condition and intubated, was transported to a clinic in Austria, according to Hotnews.
“The patients are stable. The two who underwent surgery are recovering after the procedure,” representatives of the medical facility also stated. They added that the patients will likely be discharged next week.
Three floors of an eight-story apartment building were damaged by the explosion that occurred on Friday morning, around 9:00 AM. Three people died and 15 were injured. Among the deceased was a pregnant woman.
