Households saved 3.8 million lei by replacing refrigerators through the EcoVoucher Program

Families in the Republic of Moldova who replaced their old household appliances with more energy-efficient ones, through the government's "EcoVoucher" program, have saved millions of lei in recent years. The replacement of 14 thousand refrigerators alone generated savings of almost four million lei, the authorities announce.
“The replacement of 14 thousand refrigerators through the “EcoVoucher” Program has generated savings of 3.8 million lei for households in the last two years,” declared the Minister of Energy, Dorin Junghietu.
The Ministry of Energy and the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED) recently launched the fourth edition of the information campaign “Transform consumption into sustainable savings”, within which citizens will receive advice, until February 2026, for rationalizing energy consumption and protecting the environment.
Thus, public institutions and companies will be stimulated to implement energy efficiency policies and practices - from the modernization of infrastructure and equipment to the application of good energy saving and management practices. Citizens will be encouraged to adopt simple measures, such as the use of energy-efficient appliances, LED light bulbs and temperature regulation in homes, which can reduce consumption by up to 15–20%.
*"Previous years' campaigns have demonstrated that small changes in daily habits can generate considerable savings and contribute to environmental protection. In this year's edition, we aim to take these achievements further and promote concrete, easy-to-apply examples that will transform awareness into real actions in households, institutions and businesses. In addition, citizens will have access to programs such as vouchers for household appliances and the Energy Efficiency Fund in the residential sector, which provide concrete support for making energy consumption more efficient," said Ion Muntean, director of CNED.
We remind you that the "EcoVoucher" Program is dedicated to replacing old and worn-out household appliances with new and energy-efficient equipment. Through this program, vulnerable consumers receive vouchers that can cover up to 70% of the cost of new household appliances.
Since the launch of the program, about 30,000 families have purchased new and efficient equipment. Vouchers are distributed automatically, based on data registered on the compensatii.gov.md platform. Beneficiaries can use the voucher during the active session, in partner store networks, provided that they hand over for recycling an old piece of equipment of the same type.
