Congaz village turns into Moldova’s folk dance capital for a day

The village of Congaz in the Gagauz Autonomous Region was filled with music and dance. A festival was held there that highlighted the colorfulness and diversity of the traditions of the south of the country. 20 Moldovan, Bulgarian and Ukrainian dance ensembles performed on the same stage.

"Time of Dance" festival began with a parade of folk costumes that colored the streets of Congaz. Locals came out to admire the show.

"We live nearby, we went for a walk with our grandson and on this occasion, we will also see this beauty".

"We went out with our grandsons, we will watch, we will welcome everyone. We are glad that such a celebration was organized in our village".

The dancers have prepared thoroughly for the festival.

“We are from the village of Gaidar, we have come to present our new dance, “Oglan”. We prepared it together with our choreographer, Violeta Vladimirovna. We have learned it for a long time”.

“We are from the village of Colibaş, we are with the small group. We are participating in this festival for the second year. Last year, it was the large group, this year, we invited small children”.

“Our Bulgarian dance ensemble is called “Bulgarian Spring”. We have prepared - the Ukrainian dance “Vesnianka” and a Bulgarian folk dance. This is our first time in the village of Congaz, we were warmly welcomed”.

“We have 22 ensembles representing the whole of Moldova: from Moldovan, Bulgarian and Gagauz villages, but also ensembles from the Transnistrian region. Our festival expands the borders and brings together various cultures and traditions”, mentions the mayor of the village of Congaz, Mihail Esir.
