Republic of Moldova helps the victims in Turkey. The government decided to send a batch of products for adults and children
The Republic of Moldova grants humanitarian aid to Turkey, which suffered as a result of the devastating earthquake in February. The aid includes a batch of essential products for adults and children. It will be sent to the affected people in Turkey. The government approved an initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in this regard. The Executive's decision is a response to the Turkish Government's request to the international community.
The batch is composed of food and hygiene products for adults, food and care items for children, pillows, blankets, towels, protective masks and other goods with a total value of over 8 million lei," reads the Government's press release.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, through the Customs Service and the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, will jointly ensure with the Ministry of Finance the operative fulfillment of the formalities for crossing the state border of the goods, so that they reach their destination as soon as possible. The expenses for carrying out the transport mission will amount to 348.7 thousand lei and will be covered by the MAI.
The death toll from the devastating earthquake that hit southeastern Turkey on February 6 and 7 has risen to 45,089, according to data from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), bringing the total number of victims, including in Syria, to about 51,000, reports Reuters.
Turkish authorities have appealed to the international community for help as the scale of damage from February's earthquakes exceeds national response capabilities.
