National Contemporary Art Exhibition opens at Brâncuși Gallery
A lively dialogue between tradition and innovation has taken shape at the Constantin Brâncuși gallery in Chișinău, with the inauguration of the National Contemporary Art Exhibition.

The event, organized by the Artists' Union of the Republic of Moldova (UAP), offers a broad view of the Moldova art scene, showcasing the creations of 83 artists from various generations and visual expressions.
The National Contemporary Art Exhibition marks the evolution of the traditional "Autumnala" exhibition, presented now in a new, innovative format.
"The titles of the new art awards are actually newer, because, when we conceived this exhibition, we wanted it to be different. We no longer offered prizes based on specific fields (painting, graphics, sculpture), but focused on different ideas or concepts," explains Florina Breazu, president of the UAP.
The distinctive award categories are: "Innovation and Experiment," "Intercultural Dialogue," "Originality and Vision," "Spiritus Artis," "Tradition and Heritage," and "Art as a Space of Freedom."

The Award for Excellence was presented to Ghenadie Jalbă for his composition, Flower Sellers. The author stated the piece reflects people who "bring joy, even in these troubled times, with sorrows and lost lives," drawing inspiration from "a time of need and war," which explains the darker color palette.
Meanwhile, the work The Gate that Leaves, which is steeped in nostalgia, secured the "Spirituality and Contemplation" award for Iraida Ciobanu.
Ciobanu expressed her appreciation: "I was very impressed by these old, local gates, which are already fading away; they are traditional, with special, handmade ornaments. The award is a great joy, a boost for new works and future achievements."

Other plastic artists honored include Elena Samburic, Igor Svernei, Florina Breazu, and Vasile Sitari. The "Art as a Space of Freedom" award went to Vladimir Frumusachi for his composition, The Theatre of the Absurd.
"Art is the area of freedom, the area of full manifestation of the human spirit. Vladimir Frumusachi's art was rightfully appreciated with this award," added Florina Breazu.
Now in its third edition, the National Contemporary Art Exhibition is open to the public until November 16.
