Kyiv drone attack kills three and injures 29 civilians

Following a Kyiv drone attack on the night of October 26, three people were killed and at least 29 others injured, including seven children, according to reports by The Kyiv Independent.

This latest incident in the Russia-Ukraine War resulted in numerous civilian casualties.

Several explosions rocked the Ukrainian capital shortly after 02:35 local time, confirmed by Ukrainian journalists on the scene. Officials confirmed that air defense systems were engaged across the city during the assault.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that a nine-story residential building was hit in the Desnianskyi district, sustaining damage to its second and third floors.

The Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, also reported that a 16-story residential building was struck in the same Desnianskyi district, igniting a fire. Windows were reportedly shattered between the first and ninth floors.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine later clarified that there were no attacks on a high-rise building in the Obolonskyi district, contradicting initial reports.

The attack on Kyiv comes just one night after Russian forces attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles, an assault that killed two people and injured 12 others.

Russia has repeatedly attacked Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, with drones since the start of Moscow's full-scale invasion in February 2022.

In recent months, Russia's military has intensified its attacks on Ukraine energy infrastructure, forcing the country to introduce rolling power outages. The Mayor of Kyiv warned on October 23 that the city is preparing for what could be the most difficult winter since the start of the full-scale invasion.
