Consultations concluded: Munteanu pledges continued dialogue with all factions after taking office

Prime Minister-designate Alexandru Munteanu has completed consultations with parliamentary factions ahead of the government's inauguration. Two factions—the "Democracy at Home" Party and "Our Party"—have requested a one-week postponement of the inauguration vote, arguing that new proposals need to be incorporated into the government program. Meanwhile, three other factions have announced that they will not support the Munteanu Government. Representatives from the majority faction of the Action and Solidarity Party confirmed that the meeting in which the Prime Minister-designate will seek Parliament's vote is scheduled for Friday, as per the established calendar.

Prime Minister-designate Alexandru Munteanu stated after consultations with parliamentary factions that the discussions were constructive and that his team will continue the dialogue with all political forces even after the inauguration of the new Cabinet of Ministers.

“We had the opportunity to present our vision, the vision of the Government, the designated Cabinet and the priorities. We outlined what we intend to do on our way toward the prosperity, peace, and development of the Republic of Moldova on its European path. I believe that we had constructive consultations with all factions”, stated Munteanu.

The Prime Minister-designate stated that the new Government will focus on investments, both local and foreign.

“We are trying to improve the investment framework, to attract large investments in infrastructure, but also in the small and medium-sized sector. There are many programs that we are already working on”, he said.

The Prime Minister-designate also explained the decision to maintain the current Executive structure, rejecting the idea of reducing the number of ministries.

"There has been a lot of talk about creating a Ministry of Digitalization, but for now we have decided that it will remain within an agency. There has also been talk about reducing the number of ministries. For now, we have decided to keep the current structure. Along the way, we will see if we can change things for the better", Munteanu said.

The Government-designate program has 10 pages and is a framework program, "based on the program of the party that won the mandate of the majority of its fellow citizens"

"It is about straightforward things: accession to the European Union, economic growth, improving the social status of the population, resilience and security. We could have made a 300-page program, but I don't think that was the case. Now we need to complete the framework that we presented with concrete measures", explained the Prime Minister-designate.

Prime Minister-designate Alexandru Munteanu stated that he has also discussed the general objectives of the future Government with potential opposition partners and sees no reason why they would not support them.

Prior to the vote on the inauguration set for October 31, Prime Minister-designate Alexandru Munteanu will hold consultations with parliamentary factions in the Europa Hall of Parliament on Wednesday, October 29. During these meetings, he will present his governing program and outline the priorities of the future executive.

The discussions began at 08:00 with deputies from the "Democracy at Home" Party faction, followed at 09:00 by consultations with Our Party deputies.

At 10:00, deputies from the "Alternative" Bloc are expected; at 11:00, from the Communist Party; and at 13:00, socialist deputies.

Discussions with deputies from the majority faction of the Action and Solidarity Party, who nominated him for the position of prime minister, will begin at 14:00.

In recent days, the Prime Minister-designate, Alexandru Munteanu, has held consultations with various groups, including the business community, civil society, trade unions, the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova, and farmers' associations.
