Analyst Mihai Isac on Moldova 1 TV: “Let’s give the Munteanu Government 100 days of grace”

The Munteanu government needs support from opposition parties to successfully implement reforms and achieve European integration objectives, according to Black Sea analyst Mihai Isac in an interview with Moldova 1 TV. During parliamentary consultations led by Prime Minister-designate Alexandru Munteanu, Isac highlighted that the new government will face challenges in the areas of the economy, security, and reintegration. He pointed out that some political parties are "continuing the political war during the electoral process to gain political advantages" and "parasitising the country's democratic process."

"It is strange to see political formations that obtained less than 6% question the will of the majority. " "These political formations are currently only parasitizing this procedural process, which is intended to give the opposition the chance to present its own suggestions, improvements to the government program. But this does not give them the right to block the will of the majority", Mihai Isac declared on the public television station.

Sensitive reforms and challenges of the new Government

Referring to the new Government's structure, Isac highlighted sensitive points, such as justice reform and territorial administration.

"It is a mixed Government, and the fight against corruption, the war for justice reform, the territorial administrative reform are very sensitive points. It is also necessary to put the need for structural economic reforms in the foreground", the analyst noted.

Isac also recommended a fair assessment in the first 100 days and a control over key positions in the ministries.

"I believe that we should grant the Government 100 days of grace to better understand what is wanted to be done in the coming period. I am also personally interested in who the people in the second line in these ministries are. And here we are referring to the secretaries of state, undersecretaries of state and heads of the main departments", the expert pointed out.

Risks of interference and territorial reintegration

Mihai Isac also noted the need for a national national security strategy, which would integrate efforts to "counteract the illegal Russian occupation".

"It is a process that needs broad support within society. It is necessary to draw up a national strategy as clear as possible for this process. It is necessary, of course, to obtain financial support from external partners", the expert added.

Referring to the European path, Isac emphasized that "The Republic of Moldova will continue to enjoy the support of European states", identifying Russia as the main hostile actor of the pro-Western path, "which has every interest in the Republic of Moldova failing on its path to the EU".

"It is necessary to launch actions to de-oligarchize the public administration in the region inhabited by the Gagauz community, at the level of the Chisinau City Hall and other districts of the Republic of Moldova, which at this moment we see are politically occupied by exponents of the interests of the Russian Federation", said the analyst on Moldova 1 TV.

We remind you that President Maia Sandu nominated Alexandru Munteanu for the position of Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, at the proposal of the PAS Political Council.

Before the vote on the inauguration on October 31, Prime Minister-designate Alexandru Munteanu held consultations with the parliamentary factions on Wednesday, October 29.

Two of the factions – “Democracy at Home” and “Partidul Nostru” – requested a one-week postponement of the inauguration vote, arguing the need to include new proposals in the government program. Three factions announced that they would not support the Munteanu Government, and the parliamentary majority confirmed that the inauguration session would take place on Friday, as scheduled.
