Munteanu Cabinet seen by experts as a guarantee of stability; European leaders welcome the new government in Chisinau

The Munteanu Government is viewed by experts as a means of ensuring political continuity, with a team that has the potential to provide stability and balance. Inaugurated on Saturday, the new executive, led by Alexandru Munteanu, retains half of the ministers from the Recean Cabinet but promises a new, more pragmatic approach focused on the economy and strengthening institutions. Political analysts note that expectations are high, particularly regarding economic growth. Additionally, the inauguration of the Munteanu Government has been positively received by European and regional leaders.
According to some political analysts, the new executive in Chisinau does not bring major changes, but maintains, in general terms, the structure and formula of the previous government. Experts believe this shows political continuity, although specific adjustments to governance are expected.
"We know that half of the government was kept from the previous government, the Dorin Recean government. The same structure was kept, the same name of the ministries, and eight people are new, eight people remained. We will see how the new ministers will cope. Another question is to what extent this is Mr. Munteanu's team, or rather, it is the PAS team", says political analyst Ion Tăbârţă.
According to expert Mihai Isac, the prime minister's calm, balanced tone indicates a new style of leadership. Alexandru Munteanu, analysts say, could bring more discipline and coherence to the government.
"Mr. Munteanu yesterday showed remarkable calm in the face of attacks by some opposition representatives. We also see that Prime Minister Munteanu, not being a member of the PAS party, has a greater margin of action than if he had been subject to a more rigid party discipline", concludes Mihai Isac, an expert on the Black Sea region.
The inauguration of the Munteanu Government was welcomed by European and regional leaders.
The Romanian Prime Minister sent a congratulatory message to Alexandru Munteanu and the members of his government team. Ilie Bolojan expressed confidence that Bucharest and Chisinau will continue to work together with determination for the benefit of citizens on both sides of the Prut River.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko praised Chisinau's commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, despite ongoing pressure from Russia. Messages of support were also sent from Brussels. The European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, expressed her eagerness to collaborate with the Munteanu Government to accelerate the reform process in the Republic of Moldova, aiming to prepare the country for European Union membership as soon as possible.
MEP Siegfried Mureșan reiterated the European Union's support for the Republic of Moldova.
