Baby boom at Chișinău Zoo: Rare Hungarian Steppe Cattle calf born

A baby boom has occurred at the Chișinău Zoological Garden. A rare Hungarian Steppe Cattle calf, a kangaroo joey, and a meerkat pup have all arrived in a single, simultaneous wave of rare animal births.

These new residents have already been presented to the public, much to the delight of visiting children.

The meerkat pup, born a month ago, is one of the recent additions and can be seen frolicking alongside its mother. Concurrently, the wildlife center welcomed a new kangaroo joey. The joey is currently nestled securely inside its mother's pouch, where it will remain until it is strong enough to venture out alone. The newest arrival is the Hungarian Steppe Cattle calf, just one week old.

"Each species has its specific living conditions. At the moment, all the babies are still with their mothers, they are nursing, and they are thriving and in good health," explained Cristina Flocos, a guide at the Zoological Garden.

These young animals are set to become the biggest stars of the capital's menagerie.

Visitor reactions highlight the appeal:

"New babies were born, and we came to see them. We brought 18 children, and we're viewing everything on display."

"We are looking for them now. Matei said he really likes the snake, and what else do you like, Matei?"

"We have visited before, but the children's pleasure is always the priority over personal curiosity."

"It's mostly for the child; she wants to come, she loves the animals. Since the weather is nice, we come to see what's new and what baby animals have appeared."
