Moldova hopes for 'good' EU Expansion Report today

The EU Expansion Report, set to be presented by the European Commission today, Tuesday, November 4, is an additional step in the Republic of Moldova's negotiation process for EU accession, stated Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, during the "Bună dimineața" show on Moldova 1.
"We have completed an analytical stage; we discussed institutions and our legislation in Brussels, identifying how much more we have to do and how much more work is needed. This report is meant specifically to provide an evaluation score so we can see what to do next. We expect this report to be a good one for the Republic of Moldova because a lot of work has been done," Cristina Gherasimov declared on the morning of November 4, on the public television channel.
Nevertheless, Gherasimov emphasized that there are still areas where work is required, but she hopes this year’s EU Expansion Report will be positive.
"Even though we haven't yet finalized the justice reform, we expect an appreciated progress in this area, as well as in the fight against organized crime. Similarly, colleagues in the Government have put in a lot of effort in the fields of energy, education, digitalization, regional development, social policies, food safety, and even fishing. We look forward to a good report that will represent an additional step in our negotiation process," Gherasimov noted.
The European Commission will publish the Enlargement Package for 2025 on November 4. This is an annual assessment of the progress made by each candidate country for EU accession, including the Republic of Moldova. In the document, which Teleradio-Moldova was able to consult before its publication, the European Commission observes that the R. Moldova has progressed on the accession path at an accelerated pace and has significantly deepened its cooperation with the EU, despite continuous hybrid threats and attempts to destabilize the country and its EU course.
Maia Sandu, the President of the Republic of Moldova, will participate today, Tuesday, November 4, at the Euronews Summit on the Enlargement of the European Union, a major event hosted by the capital of Belgium, dedicated to the process of new states joining the bloc. The Head of State is scheduled to give a speech at this event.
