Roberta Metsola will deliver a speech in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova

Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Parliament, will officially visit the Republic of Moldova from November 6 to 7 to mark the establishment of the new Parliament during its 12th legislature. While in Chisinau, she will participate in a session of the Legislative Assembly, where she is scheduled to deliver a speech. Additionally, Metsola will hold a bilateral meeting with the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu.
The agenda includes a discussion with President Maia Sandu, followed by a joint press conference, as well as a meeting with Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu. During this visit, Roberta Metsola will also participate in an event dedicated to young people, which is organized at the "Spiru Haret" Theoretical Lyceum in Chisinau.
In November 2022, Roberta Metsola spoke during a plenary session of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, where she conveyed a strong message of support for our country's European path.
On November 4, at the Euronews Summit on EU enlargement in Brussels, President Maia Sandu of the Republic of Moldova stated that the country has made “significant progress” on its path toward European integration. She expressed that Moldova is ready to open all negotiation clusters with the European Union (EU), following the presentation of the 2025 Enlargement Report by the European Commission. Sandu emphasized that, by maintaining the pace of reforms and fostering close cooperation with European partners, she envisions Moldova becoming an EU member state by 2030.
The President highlighted that the authorities in Chișinău have carefully prepared for this process, even amid challenging geopolitical conditions and external pressures. She stressed the need for a “clear calendar” of European decisions to advance the accession process.
According to the European Commission's report, Moldova is set to open all negotiation clusters. The Annual Enlargement Package notes that Moldova has made the most significant progress among candidate countries within the past year. Currently, Chișinău aligns 98 percent with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy and aims to conclude the accession negotiations for chapters yet to be addressed by 2028.
