Three people sentenced for distributing drugs via Telegram in Chisinau

Three individuals, including one from Ukraine, were sentenced to prison for their involvement in a network that distributed drugs on a particularly large scale in the Republic of Moldova. They would divide the drugs into small doses and hide them in various locations around Chisinau, where clients would pick them up after communicating through the Telegram app.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, a 37-year-old man coordinated the procurement, transportation, and sale of narcotic substances through the Telegram application.

Expert analysis revealed that the seized substances included methadone, heroin, mephedrone, clephedrone, and amphetamine.

He pleaded guilty and received a sentence of seven years in a closed-type penitentiary, along with a five-year ban on holding positions involving the management of medicines and drugs.

In another case related to the same investigation, two young men were also sentenced. They operated together in the Buiucani sector, where they stored and dispensed drug doses according to online instructions.

The 19-year-old was sentenced to five years and three months in prison, while the 20-year-old, a Ukrainian citizen, received a sentence of five and a half years. Both were prohibited from engaging in activities related to the distribution of narcotic substances for three years following the completion of their sentences.
