Illegal migration scheme dismantled in Moldova: African and Asian citizens tried to reach the EU illegally

Border police and prosecutors in the southern part of the country have dismantled an illegal migration scheme involving Moldovan citizens. These individuals were assisting people from Africa and Asia in illegally crossing the Moldovan-Romanian border. Following searches conducted on November 1, the suspects were detained, but the court later released them under judicial supervision for 60 days.

According to the Border Police, an investigation was conducted in September, revealing that three organizers were responsible for facilitating illegal crossings from the Republic of Moldova to Romania. The victims reported that they had paid money in both their country of origin and the Republic of Moldova.

During the searches related to this case, authorities seized three cars, cash, electronic devices, and other items used in the criminal activity.

No further details about the suspects or the ongoing investigation have been released, but efforts continue to identify additional individuals involved.
