Students from Călărași discover green solutions for saving energy

Students from the "Mihail Sadoveanu" Lyceum in Călărași discovered ways to protect the environment and save energy through the interactive contest "Equal Chance Energy". During the quiz, they tested their knowledge about energy efficiency and learned new ideas for a more sustainable lifestyle.

"I appreciated that the activity was highly interactive, allowing us to work in teams. I learned the importance of not leaving the charger plugged in overnight, and I plan to follow this advice, since I usually leave it plugged in".
"The experience was very engaging. Our team was cohesive; we communicated well and discussed all of our ideas. We also learned about ecology in our country".
"It was an exciting activity where everyone contributed to our team’s responses. Let's commit to taking care of our planet by saving energy".
Valeriu Gorincioi, the principal of “M. Sadoveanu” Lyceum in Călărași, stated, "An educated consumer can make energy efficiency a reality. If we can educate children on at least some ideas related to energy conservation at home and within their families, these concepts will likely have a lasting impact on their households in the future."
Through games, contests, and interactive discussions, students learned which country is the most sustainable in the world, how solar panels work, and what energy consumption entails. The quiz provided an opportunity not only for questions and answers but also for discussions about pursuing careers in green fields.
“Students are divided into groups of ten and answer several questions about energy efficiency, the importance and role of girls and women in technical professions, and environmental protection within a given time frame. Afterwards, the best teams are awarded prizes”, said Diana Răilean, a communication analyst with UNDP Moldova.

The "Energy with equal opportunities" quiz was organized by UNDP Moldova, with support from the Governments of Italy and Denmark, in four educational institutions and is expected to reach two more.
