Ten people fined over 21,500 lei for illegally providing taxi services in Chisinau

Seventeen individuals were fined for illegally providing taxi services in Chisinau, either by not using cash or failing to utilize appropriate control equipment.

Tax inspectors, along with employees from the National Motor Transport Agency and the National Inspectorate of Public Security, conducted 22 operational checks over three days, from November 4 to November 7. These checks targeted individuals providing taxi services, both on an occasional basis and through electronic management platforms.

As a result of these inspections, ten individuals engaged in illegal taxi activities were fined a total of 21.54 thousand lei for operating without the required organizational and legal registration.

Additionally, seven other drivers received fines of 6.5 thousand lei for failing to issue tax receipts, indicating they did not declare income from their transport services.

Drivers found in violation of these regulations had their registration plates and technical passports confiscated for three months.

The State Tax Service (SFS) urges all taxpayers to comply with tax regulations and to conduct their business activities transparently. Citizens are encouraged to request tax receipts for taxi rides and to report any instances of illicit economic activity by calling the SFS Hotline at 0 8000 1525.
