Nearly 400,000 people have applied for compensation for the cold season

Citizens continue to submit applications for state financial support for energy expenses during the 2025-2026 cold season. To date, 391,229 applications have been registered on the compensatii.gov.md platform, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
According to the institution, a total of 200,989 applicants registered with the assistance of social workers or registrars.
Additionally, 9,772 people called the free hotline 0 8000 5000 to seek clarification on various issues they encountered during the registration process.
"The deadline for submitting applications is November 28. Those who register by this date will begin receiving compensation this month. However, individuals who do not register by November 28 will still have the opportunity to submit their applications later, but they will only start receiving compensation next month," representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection stated.
The amount of compensation for the cold season will be determined individually for each household after the application registration process concludes.
We would like to remind you that registrations for the compensation platform started on November 3. This initiative is part of the government program "Ajutor la contor", which was launched in 2022 to assist vulnerable families.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, registrations must be completed online. The evaluation of applications is automated using data on income and household composition. For individuals without access to digital resources, social workers in local communities are available for assistance.
The compensation will be provided in cash, either through transfers to social cards or via post offices. This support will cover heating costs from various sources, including natural gas, centralized thermal energy, electricity, as well as wood, coal, pellets, or briquettes.
The "Help at the Meter" program supported over 700,000 households in the previous season, according to official data.
Authorities state that the new cash compensation model aims to provide people with greater flexibility and a more effective response to rising energy costs.
More than 720,000 families, comprising over 1.5 million individuals, received compensation for heating expenses during the cold season from November 2024 to March 2025.
In the previous cold season, the government allocated a total of 2.69 billion lei to support this program.
