Drugs worth one million lei seized at Balti entrance; two men detained by police

Law enforcement officers found drugs valued at around 1,000,000 lei at the entrance to the municipality of Bălți. The illegal substances were being transported in a vehicle driven by a 34-year-old man from Chișinău, according to the police.
Officers from the “Nord” Investigation Department of the National Investigation Inspectorate, along with employees from the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), seized approximately 2.5 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana and hashish, which were packaged in 140 sachets and ready for sale.
Later, a 25-year-old man was detained as a second suspect; he is believed to have supplied the drugs to the driver.
According to the General Inspectorate of Police, both individuals were part of a criminal group involved in drug sales in Bălți, Telenești, and other districts in the northern part of the country, conducting transactions via the Telegram app.
This group was expanding its operations and actively seeking additional dealers for distribution.
The vehicle was stopped with the assistance of the "Nord" Patrol Directorate of the National Inspectorate for Public Security. Medical tests confirmed that the driver had consumed marijuana and cocaine before driving.
By decision of the Bălți Court, the driver was placed in preventive detention, and the car was confiscated.
The second suspect faces charges of complicity in drug trafficking, and prosecutors also requested preventive detention for him.
Investigations are ongoing to identify all individuals involved in the network.
