Moldova to update National Accession Program

The Government will hold public consultations next week regarding the update of the National Accession Program for Moldova EU accession.

The document is set to be adjusted by the end of the year and will incorporate key messages expressed on November 11 at the "2025 Enlargement Report: Progress and Future Priorities of the Republic of Moldova" Conference, announced Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov.

Reflecting on the event, which convened some 400 officials—including Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos from Brussels, business leaders, and civil society representatives—Gherasimov affirmed Moldova’s firm commitment to the European Union. She stressed that the reforms and efforts undertaken in the past year "are being done for the people, not for Brussels."

"I am pleased by the high level of public interest. It was a good opportunity for the new Cabinet of Ministers to present its priorities and to listen to opinions and recommendations coming from outside. All the efforts we are making together are aimed at preparing our country for accession to the European Union," Gherasimov stated. "We are doing it for us, not for Brussels. The citizens of the Republic of Moldova deserve to live in peace, freedom, and prosperity."

Marta Kos, at the "2025 Enlargement Report" Conference: "2026 must be the year of real implementation of reforms."

Cristina Gherasimov assured that the new Government is "enthusiastic and motivated," proposing "to do everything in its power so that, by 2030, we are ready for EU accession."

"I thank the hundreds of civil servants who put forth massive efforts so that today we are recognized for our progress. This success would not have been possible without the involvement of the non-governmental sector, the private environment, colleagues from universities, and local administration," she said.

She added that in Brussels, "we are not viewed as the Government of the Republic of Moldova, but as a team—the delegation of the Republic of Moldova. We are all in the same boat. We still have a lot of work to do, but we are not alone. We need your expertise and experience."

Gherasimov concluded: "The doors of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Bureau for European Integration always remain open for discussions and to find the best solutions for our country."

The national conference brought together representatives of the Government, Parliament, the European Commission, the business environment, and civil society for an open dialogue.

Throughout November 11, participants discussed the progress achieved across the main clusters of the accession negotiations—from justice and economy to environment, agriculture, and energy.

The event concluded with Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov's appeal to collectively continue the country's European path "with confidence, transparency, and responsibility, for the benefit of every citizen of the Republic of Moldova."
