On Thursday in Bucharest, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu presented the economic reforms initiated by the Government in Chișinău, along with investment opportunities and sectors that offer favorable conditions for entrepreneurs. This presentation was made to the members of the French Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture in Romania.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the Government is focused on stimulating economic growth, emphasizing strategic areas where the Republic of Moldova is encouraging investments. These areas include energy and information technologies, agribusiness, infrastructure, and logistics, according to a government statement. "We propose more deregulation and innovation in the coming period to stimulate the economy and attract entrepreneurs," stated the Head of the Executive.

The Prime Minister invited Romanian and French companies to engage in the innovation program for the energy sector, as well as initiatives aimed at modernizing oil product storage capacities and developing a liberalized natural gas market.

Additionally, he mentioned the favorable conditions for activities in the information technology sector within Moldova IT Park. Companies can become virtual residents of the park, which offers several advantages: a flat 7% tax rate, a virtual operating regime, an expanded list of eligible IT activities, simplified interaction with public authorities, and opportunities to attract foreign specialists for extended periods through the “IT Visa” initiative. Currently, 49 Romanian companies are registered in the park.

The meeting also addressed the potential for expanding bilateral trade. In 2024, Romania ranked as Moldova's top trading partner, accounting for over 20% of Moldova's total trade. Current projects aimed at developing road infrastructure and facilitating border transit are expected to further stimulate trade.

The French Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture in Romania is one of the most prominent business organizations in the country, boasting nearly 30 years of activity and about 600 members, including companies with French, international, and Romanian capital, as well as NGOs and universities.

We remind you that Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu made his first foreign visit to Bucharest on November 13, where he met with the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, President of the Senate Mircea Abrudean, and President of the Chamber of Deputies Sorin Grindeanu.
