"Peace Shield 2025": the army and the carabinieri trained for crisis situations
Hundreds of soldiers from the National Army and employees of the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri participated in the "Peace Shield 2025" exercise, an extensive training event designed to simulate real-life conditions as closely as possible. Participants practised complex scenarios, including defending a military base, providing first aid in conflict zones, and responding to violent protests.

The exercise began with a large-scale simulation to defend a military base under attack.
Participants also conducted a crowd-control exercise designed to test the forces' ability to maintain order during crisis situations. Such exercises aim to replicate conditions as closely to reality as possible.
“In the process of defending the base during an imminent enemy attack, the military are required to take their defensive positions according to an established plan. Individual firing positions are already set up for this purpose,” says Colonel Sorin Bacalu.
Only three women participated in the "Peace Shield 2025" military exercise. One of them is Mădălina, a 24-year-old employee of the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri.
“We were fortunate to have our company of male comrades, who are brave and come to our support in moments when we may lack the same physical strength,” Mădălina Glijin explains.
For the first time, employees from the Carabinieri Inspectorate participated in this extensive training.
“This interorganizational cooperation was quite challenging from the beginning, but we got used to it during the process,” says Major Roman Ursuleac.

International observers from Romania, Japan, and the United Kingdom evaluated the performance of the Moldovan military and carabinieri. The objective of the "Peace Shield 2025" exercise is to certify the 22nd "Blue Helmets" Battalion and ensure that Moldovan forces are prepared for international missions.
