Moldova launches ambitious "Autumn 2025" reforestation campaign

The Moldova reforestation campaign, titled "Autumn 2025", has officially launched and will run for one month. The official event took place on the morning of Saturday, November 15, in Mihailovca village, Cimișlia district.

At this site alone, approximately 130,000 saplings will be planted, covering an area of 27 hectares.
The Republic of Moldova officially inaugurated a new stage of its National Forest Program – Generation of the Forest – an initiative considered one of the most extensive in the country's history.
While the "Autumn 2025" campaign started in Mihailovca, sapling planting efforts are simultaneously taking place in all districts across the country, with citizens strongly encouraged to participate.
High-level political engagement was visible: Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu also participated in the Mihailovca planting initiative.
The President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, also present at the event, stated that he joined the planting to ensure that, in the coming years, citizens can enjoy a greener, forested nation with more clean air.
Grosu later wrote on Facebook: "Today I planted trees, alongside my colleagues from the Parliament. Since the launch of the greening program, over 16,000 hectares have been reforested, and by 2032 we have the ambitious plan to plant and rehabilitate 145,000 hectares. We can do it if we unite our forces. Together we can do everything!"
Additionally, around 800 military personnel and civilian employees from all garrisons of the National Army joined the national reforestation program in various locations.
Preparations for this year's massive campaign began at the forestry nursery in Sărătenii Vechi, Telenești district, where the Ministry of the Environment and the "Moldsilva" Agency presented the sapling production process, the technologies used, and the crucial steps that precede planting.
The "Autumn 2025" campaign is a core component of the National Forest Program "Generation of the Forest," a flagship Maia Sandu initiative. The overall goal is to plant and rehabilitate 145,000 hectares of forest by 2032.
In the first two years following the program's launch, over 16,000 hectares have already been reforested.
