Israel to play Moldova World Cup qualifier in Chișinău due to conflict

The Moldovan national football team is scheduled to play its final fixture of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Israel in Chișinău.

The match was originally due to be played in Debrecen, Hungary. However, the Israeli Football Association requested a relocation due to the ongoing military conflict within Israel, ultimately choosing the Moldovan capital as the neutral venue. Israel remains unable to host international matches on home soil due to security concerns.

The Group Stage fixture, designated as an Israeli home game, will be broadcast live on the public television channel Moldova 1 from 21:45 Eastern European Time (EET). The live commentary will be provided by Alexandru Rusu.

Pre-match coverage will begin at 21:30 EET with a special edition of the sports programme Arena Sportivă. The broadcast will be hosted by Radu Galbur, who will be joined by former striker Sergiu Chirilov and current footballer Dan Spătaru to provide match analysis.

Studio analysis on Moldova 1 will continue during the half-time interval and following the final whistle. The post-match segment of Arena Sportivă will feature initial reactions from the players. Experts will then offer a detailed assessment of the 'Tricolors' performance in the match against Israel and their overall campaign in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

A full summary of the match will be shown after midnight, at 00:30 EET.
