Global Cloudflare outage disrupts Moldovan and international services for hours

A significant infrastructure failure at Cloudflare, which handles around one-fifth of global Internet traffic, led to widespread online service disruptions on Tuesday, impacting various websites, including those in the Republic of Moldova.

Cloudflare has officially confirmed an incident, stating that it is "aware of and investigating an issue that may affect multiple customers." The company has assured that "additional details will be provided as more information becomes available."
The impact of this issue was significant enough that Down Detector, the service that tracks online outages in real time, also experienced disruptions.
In an announcement on its website, Cloudflare noted that "our support portal provider is currently experiencing issues, and customers may encounter errors when viewing or responding to support requests." However, Cloudflare emphasized that responses to customer inquiries remain unaffected, and customers "can continue to contact us via live chat or the emergency telephone line.” The company is working with the third-party provider "to fully understand the impact and mitigate this issue."
Cloudflare offers services that optimize and secure web traffic, acting as an "intelligent intermediary" between users and the websites they visit. The platform helps web pages load quickly and protects online infrastructure from attacks or malicious traffic, which is why such an outage can impact many digital services.
