Chișinău to provide sweet gifts for 30,874 kindergarten children

All children attending Chișinău kindergartens will receive sweet packages, funded entirely by the municipal budget.
These preschool gifts will be distributed to the children at the Christmas and New Year’s matinees, which are organized in the preschool institutions to mark the winter holidays.
“This year, too, the Chișinău Municipal City Hall will provide the preschool educational institutions with gifts for all enrolled children. Sector colleagues have already launched the acquisition procedures for this initiative,” announced Andrei Pavaloi, the deputy head of the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports (DGETS), at the Chișinău City Hall meeting on November 24.
According to data provided by DGETS, a total of 30,874 children will benefit from these sweet packages this year.
At the same time, Pavaloi urged suburban mayors to allocate the necessary funds to maintain the tradition, noting that kindergartens in these areas are financially managed by the local city halls.
“I want to urge the mayors from the suburbs, who manage the kindergartens financially, to follow suit. We must not differentiate between children attending preschool institutions in the suburbs and those attending institutions in the city,” the deputy head of DGETS emphasized.
When asked by Teleradio Moldova to specify the planned expenditure for the procurement of the preschool gifts, Andrei Pavaloi stated that the total amount is not yet set. According to the DGETS official, the final value will be determined only after the completion of the procurement procedures.
Last year, 31,287 preschoolers in the municipality of Chișinău received gifts for the winter holidays.
The cost of a gift purchased by the municipality in previous years was approximately 35 to 40 lei.
