Ministry of Finance: Mayor’s order allows Chișinău teachers to receive salaries
The extra allocations approved by the state budget amendment are sufficient to fully cover both salaries and bonuses for employees of municipal educational institutions in Chisinau. According to the Ministry of Finance, a mayor's order is all that's needed to accept these transfers.
The government has allocated approximately 190.7 million lei for salaries, including 73.8 million lei for the annual bonus for 2025.
A statement from the Ministry of Finance notes that incorporating these funds into the municipal budget can be done with a simple mayor's order, without additional procedures or unnecessary delays.
It is important to mention that the attempt to approve the budget transfer through the Chisinau Municipal Council order failed during the meeting on November 24.
The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) faction accused the mayor of attempting to pressure local elected officials with this project to justify certain illegal expenses.
In response, councilors from the National Alternative Movement, a party founded by the mayor, argued that PAS is sabotaging the city's development and risks leaving Chisinau employees without their November salaries and year-end bonuses.
The meeting was adjourned and will resume on Tuesday, November 25, at 1:00 p.m.
