Road crews will be alerted by 112 operators during accidents or severe weather

Road crews will be notified by the 112 Service operators in the event of road accidents or incidents caused by infrastructure issues or challenging weather conditions. This initiative is made possible by a collaboration agreement between the national emergency call service (112) and the National Road Administration (AND). The goal of this agreement is to enhance the exchange of information and improve response times for incidents on public roads.
The document signed by Anatolie Viniciuc, the director of the 112 Service, and Ștefan Popa, the interim general director of AND, outlines a new collaboration between the two institutions. They will establish a communication interface to enable the real-time transmission of critical data from the 112 Service's Automated Information System.
AND will supply the 112 Service with detailed information about the road network it manages in a standardized format. This data will be integrated into the 112 IT system, allowing operators to accurately identify the locations of reported incidents and direct necessary interventions more efficiently.
In return, the 112 Service will promptly inform AND about accidents, infrastructure damage, road obstacles, blockages, and other situations occurring on national roads, including those caused by heavy snowfall, ice, blizzards, or torrential rain.
Representatives from both institutions emphasize that "this collaboration is crucial during severe weather events, such as heavy snowfall, sleet, blizzards, or torrential rain, when roads may become impassable and rapid intervention is essential to maintain safe traffic."

"Rapid access to information can significantly impact the response to emergencies, turning a road blockage lasting for hours into an effective intervention," said Anatolie Viniciuc, director of the 112 Service.
Ștefan Popa added that AND "welcomes this partnership, which enables immediate access to critical information about incidents on national roads."
"Through this collaboration, we aim to be closer to citizens, enhance institutional capacities, and ensure effective interventions in emergencies, prioritizing the safety of road users under all circumstances," emphasized Ștefan Popa.
This agreement reflects the commitment of both institutions to establish a sustainable collaboration based on responsibility and mutual trust, contributing to the modernization of road incident management in the Republic of Moldova.
