Moldovan Government approves social agreement with Slovakia to secure pensions

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova who have officially worked in the Slovak Republic will be eligible to receive pensions and other social benefits based on the contributory periods completed in that country. The administrative arrangement to implement the social agreement between the two nations was approved by the Chisinau Executive on November 26.
During a recent meeting, Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Natalia Plugaru, stated that the agreement's provisions create favorable conditions for Moldovan citizens who have worked or are currently working in Slovakia and wish to return home. Upon reaching retirement age, they will be able to fully exercise their social security rights.
The Republic of Moldova has signed social security agreements with 20 countries, and negotiations are in progress with Canada and Ireland.
Minister Natalia Plugaru emphasized, "All these agreements allow individuals to benefit from pensions and other social benefits from both countries, based on the contributory periods completed in each."
The administrative arrangement with the Slovak Republic was ratified in Bratislava in October of this year.
Such documents establish a framework of social security guarantees for individuals who have worked or reside in one or both of the contracting countries.
