Heavy fog in Moldova: Police safety alert & traffic advice
Dense fog is affecting traffic conditions in several regions across Moldova, significantly reducing visibility and creating hazardous driving conditions.
The Police of the Republic of Moldova is issuing a severe warning, urging both drivers and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution to prevent accidents.
According to police recommendations, drivers are advised to adjust their speed to the weather conditions, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, and use dipped/low-beam headlights, even during the daytime. Under these conditions, obstacles and pedestrians can be observed much later, especially in poorly lit areas or near crosswalks.
Pedestrians are also advised to remain vigilant, cross the road only at designated crossings, and make absolutely sure the road is clear before stepping onto the roadway, as the dense fog severely limits the drivers' ability to react in time.
The State Hydrometeorological Service confirmed it is maintaining the Yellow Code warning for fog, valid until Wednesday, November 27, at 12:00 PM. During this interval, visibility may drop below 200 meters.
