Mîndîc-R12 road fully repaired after 25 years of neglect in Drochia district
The comprehensive road repair project linking Mîndîc village in Drochia district to the R12 highway has been successfully completed.
This crucial piece of infrastructure had not been rehabilitated for the past 25 years, forcing drivers to dangerously slalom among severe potholes.
Residents from several villages in the Drochia district will now benefit from this essential upgrade.
The repaired section spans nearly $1.5$ kilometers. Before the work commenced, local drivers consistently described the road's condition as disastrous.
"There were potholes everywhere, and driving was a real struggle, but now it looks very good. We are delighted," said one resident.
"As a resident, I use this road frequently, whether I need to go to Drochia or visit the hospital."
Another driver stated, "It was full of potholes and virtually impassable. It was simply not possible to drive safely, and our cars were constantly breaking down."
"It was so difficult to drive, but the situation is good now. The road was terrible; we used it, but it was terrible," another confirmed.
"I am an ambulance driver, and it was extremely challenging for me. Thanks to whoever undertook this effort, the situation has dramatically improved. We are very satisfied," an emergency responder noted.
A final resident commented, "The road was bad, with all those potholes. Now it's excellent; we thank the builders. It was so bad, you would honestly prefer driving on a rough dirt track."
This vital stretch connects the localities of Mîndîc and Zgurița in Drochia district with the town of Mărculești in Florești.
"This is a very important route that had not received a full, capital repair for many years," explained Ion Recean, the mayor of Mîndîc.
The total investment for the road works is approximately $7.77$ million lei. The necessary resources were fully allocated from the Road Fund.
