Christmas trees decorated in homes at winter’s start

The holidays are approaching, and many families start decorating their trees at the very beginning of winter. In the Hîncu family from the village of Floreni in Anenii Noi, both young and old gathered around the Christmas tree. The tree was adorned with toys that had been passed down through generations, as well as handmade decorations.
In the Hîncu family, the Christmas tree is decorated on the first day of winter.
"Every year, since we were children, we have had trees with roots, which we plant. We have trees planted outside that grow year after year. We use old toys inherited from our grandparents and parents, but we also craft something new with the children each year, often inspired by the calendar year or the animal or mascot of the upcoming year. We try to make as many decorations as possible by hand from recycled materials," said Igor Hîncu, a resident of the village of Floreni.
"This is a magical moment for us. It allows us to come together, create memories, and spread joy as we welcome the winter holidays, making the atmosphere in our home festive," mentioned Victoria Hîncu.
"He creates a surprise for us, fills the house with magic, and brings beauty. I really like Santa Claus and the snowman," said one of the children.
"I like the snowman, reindeer, and angels," chimed in another child.
This year, the traditional star on top of the tree was replaced with the symbol of the European Union. The Hîncu family explained, "We believe it's important to display this as a sign of hope for good fortune, so that by 2028, we will be in the European Union."
Spectacular decorations can also be seen in shopping centers. One shopping mall has a 14-meter-high artificial Christmas tree adorned with over two thousand ornaments. Additionally, more than a kilometer of lights has been installed in the square.
"I think it's quite interesting and very aesthetic. You can really feel the Christmas and New Year spirit," one visitor said.
"It's something new for us citizens to experience. It pleases the eye and brightens our lives, making it more cheerful," another resident shared.
"I like it; it’s very beautiful and something special," added another local.
Preparations are also in full swing in the capital's center. The Christmas Fair will be inaugurated on December 5, coinciding with the activation of festive street lighting. In the meantime, the "Moldsilva" Agency is selling nearly 38,000 Christmas trees grown in forest nurseries, with prices starting at 90 lei and exceeding two thousand lei, depending on the size of the fir trees.
