Bomb threat halts Bucharest-Kyiv train at Moldova border

The international Bucharest-Kyiv train was halted at noon on December 13 at the Vălcineț border crossing point and is currently being searched by security services in the Republic of Moldova following a bomb threat reported by the onboard staff.
Moldovan authorities immediately activated the "Explosive BRAVO" security signal. The Border Police announced the train is undergoing a thorough check.
According to the Border Police, the onboard staff was informed by the Moldovan Railways dispatch service at 12:50 PM about an earlier security alert. The train chief was reportedly notified by Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) that a male caller on their emergency line claimed the four-carriage Train No. 100, then at the Vălcineț border crossing point and preparing to exit the Republic of Moldova, was allegedly rigged with explosives.
The Moldovan government is treating the case with utmost urgency, leading to the immediate mobilization of all competent agencies, including specialized anti-bomb units. The security teams are currently working to clear the train and secure the entire area, ensuring the safety of all passengers, personnel, and infrastructure.
