The number of cases of COVID-19 and seasonal flu, decreasing. New data presented by the Ministry of Health
In the Republic of Moldova, there is a decrease in the number of cases of COVID-19 and seasonal flu, the Ministry of Health announces. Thus, in the period March 13-19, 2,373 cases of COVID-19 were registered, down by 16.3% compared to the previous week, 37 cases of flu, about 23% less, and 357 – respiratory infections (SARS).
Also, the number of acute upper respiratory tract infections (IARCS) increased by 5.4%, with 8,251 cases being registered. The Ministry of Health also notes that the number of hospitalizations due to acute viral respiratory infections decreased by about 6%, a trend that has been maintained for four consecutive weeks. Respectively, 255 people with IARCS and 24 with flu were hospitalized in medical institutions. Most admissions are among children up to four years old. The quoted source informs that there have been no deaths caused by the flu. In total, this season, 1,854 influenza cases were confirmed, 240,773 – IARCS and 10,058 – SARI.
