Environmental inspectors sanction illegal tree felling in Bălți

Environmental inspectors from the municipality of Balti detected several violations of environmental protection legislation last week. Inspections carried out in the area resulted in fines and the reporting of significant environmental damage.

According to a press release from the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection, environmental inspectors from the municipality of Balti conducted several inspections this week. During these inspections, they identified instances of non-compliance with environmental legislation.

As a result of these inspections, the environmental authorities documented several violations and imposed appropriate fines. One individual was fined 2,500 lei, while an economic agent was found guilty of illegal deforestation for cutting down three elm trees and two catalpa trees, which is considered a serious violation of environmental laws.

For this offense, the economic agent received a fine of 25,000 lei. Inspectors assessed the environmental damage at over 22,000 lei, which will be recovered through legal procedures.

In light of these findings, the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection urges both individuals and businesses to comply with environmental legislation, emphasizing that failure to do so will result in legal sanctions and the requirement to restore any damage caused.
