Moscow rejects most peace proposals from Miami talks

Most proposals emerging from the Miami negotiations between the US, Europe, and Ukraine regarding a peaceful settlement to the war "will not be acceptable" to Moscow.
Yuri Ushakov, advisor to the Russian President, signaled that the Kremlin’s official position will only be finalized after their envoy returns from the United States, according to DW.
Kirill Dmitriev, who represented Russia in Miami, is scheduled to return to Russia on Monday, December 22. He will present President Vladimir Putin with the conclusions from his discussions with American, European, and Ukrainian officials.
"Mr. Dmitriev will bring certain signals that the Americans received from the Europeans and Ukrainians. We will analyze what can be accepted and what is categorically unacceptable," Ushakov stated during an interview on the "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" program on Rossiya 1.
The presidential advisor emphasized that Moscow remains committed to positions previously agreed upon with the US in Anchorage and other meetings. He suggested that the new initiatives discussed in Florida deviate from these established understandings.
Ukraine: "Constructive" talks with the United States
Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, led the Ukrainian delegation in Miami and described the US-Ukraine meetings as "constructive."
Umerov noted that the discussions focused on four key documents: the ongoing development of the 20-point US peace plan for Ukraine, a multilateral framework for security guarantees, a bilateral security agreement with the US, and a post-conflict economic development plan.
The Ukrainian delegation also included Lieutenant General Andrii Hnatov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
US: "Russia remains committed to peace"
The negotiations involved US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner (son-in-law of US President Donald Trump), and White House official Josh Gruenbaum. High-ranking European national security advisors also joined the talks.
In a message posted on X on the night of December 22, Steve Witkoff characterized Dmitriev’s meetings with the American delegation in Florida as "productive and constructive," aimed at advancing Donald Trump's proposed peace plan.
"Russia remains fully committed to achieving peace in Ukraine and appreciates the efforts and support of the United States in resolving the conflict and restoring global security," Witkoff wrote.
