Zelenskyy advances peace framework following talks with Trump envoys

Ukraine is accelerating its diplomatic efforts to end the war, ensuring all transition steps are realistic and effective, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced following high-level talks with U.S. presidential envoys.

The discussions involved Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The Ukrainian delegation included Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov, and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

Zelenskyy confirmed that the parties analyzed substantive details of the ongoing peace process. The conversation produced actionable ideas aimed at achieving a lasting peace and shared regional stability.

Progress on security and recovery

Significant progress has been made on key documents, specifically regarding security guarantees and economic prosperity. Zelenskyy emphasized that these frameworks are essential for the future of Ukraine, Europe, and the United States.

The Ukrainian President expressed gratitude to the American partners for their constructive engagement. He also extended holiday greetings to President Donald Trump and his family, highlighting the symbolic timing of these discussions.

“We need real security, real recovery, and real peace,” Zelenskyy stated. He noted that the ideas exchanged during the Christmas period would serve as a foundation for upcoming diplomatic milestones.

The 20-point roadmap

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is scheduled for follow-up talks with Witkoff and Kushner later today. These discussions will focus on fine-tuning the coordination of the proposed peace documents.

This follows Zelenskyy’s recent announcement that Ukraine has secured specific concessions in the latest version of the peace plan. The document, coordinated between Washington and Kyiv, is currently under review in Moscow.

The 20-point plan reportedly includes provisions for freezing current front lines. Additionally, it outlines a framework for troop withdrawals and the establishment of demilitarized zones to stabilize the region.
