Moldova National Police adopts 3D laser scanning technology through Polish-Aid program

Moldova’s National Police is modernizing its forensic capabilities by introducing state-of-the-art 3D laser scanners.

This acquisition, supported by Poland, aims to streamline the collection and management of evidence during criminal investigations.

The technology uses high-precision lasers to create detailed virtual models of investigated sites. This allows forensic officers to quickly generate "digital twins" of crime scenes, ensuring exact data preservation for future judicial proceedings.

Enhancing evidence quality

Experts from the General Police Inspectorate (IGP) emphasize that 3D scanning minimizes human error. By capturing spatial data with millimeter precision, the technology significantly improves the quality of evidence presented in court.

The equipment was acquired through the Polish-Aid program. It is part of an international project titled "Modern methods of documenting disaster sites or terrorist attacks using 3D laser scanners."

Strategic international cooperation

The initiative is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and implemented by the Polish Police Headquarters in Warsaw.

The official launch took place during a meeting between Moldovan police leadership and Polish representatives. This event highlighted the growing operational cooperation between the two nations.

Through this modernization, Moldovan authorities aim to align national investigative practices with European Union standards. The IGP plans to expand the use of these digital tools across more departments in the near future.
